SEL and Culture & Climate

Professional Development Workshops and Webinars

Bias Awareness Training

Educators will reflect on their experiences with cultural diversity and bias, and explore how those experiences impact their interactions with students and colleagues. Attendees will gain awareness of how bias impacts their interactions and they will gain skills to minimize the biases that are inherent in us all.

Trauma Informed and Culturally Responsive Practices

Building on the work of Zaretta Hammond, and Ramapo for Children, these offerings guide educators to develop their own skills around personalization, providing choice, and voice, and differentiating for the academic, cultural and social-emotional needs of their students.

On-site Support and Research

Perception Surveys

Seeking feedback from all stakeholders allows a school community to gain powerful information to improve school culture and the experiences of students, staff, and families. Demonstrated Success will facilitate the development and administration of surveys, and with a team, lead the creation of an action plan that is responsive to the needs of school community members.

Action Research

Youth Participatory Action Research  (YPAR) is an empowering process that engages students in creating the environment in which they want to learn.  Our trainers will work with  2-3 teachers and a team of students who represent the school population to lead school climate data collection, analysis, communication, and action planning.

Equitable Climate and Culture Study

A review of curriculum, behavior systems, and intervention systems, coupled with observations in classrooms and shared spaces, illuminates a great deal about an  organization’s delivery of equitable opportunities for all students.  After conducting this study, our team will provide a report and recommendations to improve equal access and sense of belonging for potentially marginalized students.

SEL Curriculum Integration Audit

Integrating SEL into your daily curriculum and instruction is key to student success. Based on data, classroom observations, and qualitative interviews with staff and students, our team can help you implement the changes needed to increase social and emotional well-being for everyone within your school community.

Our automated, online Educator Success Platform will help you gather and analyze survey data for timely insights into your school.

Above all, action research gives students a voice in their

school community. It helps bring students, teachers, and

administration together to help improve our school's climate

and culture. It also helps to bring faculty members from

different departments together to collaborate on an initiative

that everyone shares a vested interest in.

Working to create a school where everyone is accepted and

respected is very important to me.  Our team has done a lot of

learning together and we have worked to share some of that

learning with the kids and teachers and our community.

Why Our Work Matters: Student Mental Health and the Pandemic

"The effects of the pandemic on students are likely to be felt for years to come. We won’t know what the full impact of remote/hybrid learning is for many years, which is one of the reasons why it’s important for schools to be prepared to deal with this in a very comprehensive and long-term way."
